Kolkata class at MDL?
ReplyDeleteIs this Indira docks where the kolkatta class destroyers are being built?
ReplyDeleteMazagoan docks where Satpura stealth frigates were being manufactured.
ReplyDeleteIts the three Kolkatta class destroyers...Where we can see the integrated mast...but we can't see the third Shivalik...so it might be gone for trials....
ReplyDeleteKolkata class destroyer with mf star radar fitted on top...

ReplyDeleteThe three P-15A Kolkata class. The front one is INS Kolkata.
ReplyDeleteAjaiji, is the pic new? Or taken by you on your earlier visit to MDL.
But I have to say MDL is the worst managed shipyard in the world. They launched INS Kolkata in 2006 and it is far away to be operational. Scorpene is 4/5 years late. Still the top management intact!!!
Why? :(
This is very bad because of very slow construction project 15A it will take 8 & 9 year time to take complete construction of one Ship. Other Nation’s like Japan take only 3 or 4 year time laid down to commissioning period. But i don’t know why we have extend the time line of project 15A. Actual Commissioning Dt. early 2010 but now these dt. Extend to May 2012 It’s doubtful and how will start. I think we have start work when China encroach our Indian sea territory, Common Respected Mr. Nirmal Verma, please push Mazagaon Docks Officers. So they work fast on Project 15A.
ReplyDeleteKolkata class destroyers being made at MDL.
ReplyDeleteThat photo is a view of the Mazagaon Shipyard taken from the Mazagaon Design Office.
ReplyDeleteNice picture. Good to see that MF-STAR has been installed on Yard No 12701 and 12702. However, progress is not as rapid as one would like.
ReplyDeleteAjay, any idea when 12701 aka Kolkata is to be delivered followed by the others?
Scrap yard...mostly in the US
ReplyDeleteindian shipyards look like crap... no wonder it takes 10 yrs per ship... how can anyone work from there? BTW is it INS KOlkata?
ReplyDeleteMDL, Mumbai with 3 Kolkata class destroyers being built. The photo is taken from a building just behind stat cinema, as viewed from google maps.
ReplyDeleteUnder construction INS Sahyadri at Mazgaon Dock?
ReplyDeleteThis is Mazagon Dock. Photo taken from a large H shaped building behind main workshop. :-)
ReplyDeleteAm I right?

ReplyDeleteProject 17-A frigates?
ReplyDeleteyantar shipyard!!!!kalingrad,Russia!!!
ReplyDeleteits ins kochi, bangaluru and kolkata
ReplyDeleteany info on kolkata class?
ReplyDeleteNice photo.
ReplyDeleteHowever if it is recent it appears like they are a very long way from commissioning.
Shuklaji is anything being done to improve this really embarrassingly slow paced construction. Will all ships being built in the foreseeable future undergo such similar slow paced construction.
Very nice picture.
ReplyDeleteHowever if this is recent then it appears like the Kolkotas are long way off from commissioning. Is any thing being done to address such embarrassingly slow paced construction ?. I am afraid if this is the state of the indigenous defense production we should give up hope of being a world power.
kolkata class destroyers. ins kolkata and ins chennai have mfstar integrated. Ins kochi lags. overall if this picture is new then ins kolkata won't be ready for commissioning next year as planned.ins sahyadri not around? MDL is the absolute pits, disorganized to the extent it looks like a scrap yard.no wonder there are cost overruns.scorpenes delayed too.now they want to build 17A. They should get some competition from the private sector.hope L&T,pipavav and ABG get orders.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a ship building place...............................................MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteIts the junkyard where most naval photo-ops are conducted to convince the Indian tax-payer that they're actually getting something for their money while babus and netas line their pockets.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ajai ji,
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what I was expecting from you after a visit to MDL.
Now, waiting for your next visit to HAL.
Regards,
Soumyadeep
looks like a filthy Indian coastal town.
ReplyDeleteKolkatta class Destroyers at Mazagon Docks in Mumbai..
ReplyDeleteThats the third P-17 and the first two P-15A ships under their various outfitting stages at MDL, Mumbai
ReplyDeleteP15A class of ships (3 ships) at Mazagon Dock Ltd. Proud to be working , for the fitment of Brahmos Cruise missile on these ships.
ReplyDeleteThe view from Adarsh Towers in Mumbai!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou call that a shipyard? More like a junkyard. No wonder it takes the Indian Navy nearly a decade to commission ships even with most of the equipment imported. If these are India's "World-class" shipbuilding facilities that Shukla boasted of then I wonder what planet these actual shipyards are from.

the sad state of ship building...
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteIs this Alang? There appears to be lots of garbage piled around for a premium shipyard such as Mazagaon. The ships appears to be in bad shape too - lots of rust on the hulls, hence I was thinking Alang !
-bye all
Matt
This is Mazgaon dock
ReplyDeletePile of shit .. world class ship building facility is a joke.
