Ravish Kumar says Broadsword was correct on China

On his widely-read blog (click link above), India's most respected Hindi language journalist and broadcaster, Ravish Kumar, sharply criticises the government for its delay and obfuscation in announcing the number of Indian casualties in Operation Sindoor... the Indian Air Force's (IAF's) air strikes on Pakistani targets on May 7-10, 2025, in retaliation for the gunning down of 26 unarmed Indian tourists in a terrorist strike on April 22, 2025 in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

Ravish points out that the Modi government has made it an established practice to disclose as little as possible to the public. Pointing to my reporting on Broadsword and Business Standard on the Chinese infiltration into Ladakh in early 2019, Ravish says the government lied to the people, and to parliament, in falsely understating casualty numbers and the number of IAF aircraft shot down.

Ravish Kumar also illustrates how the vast majority of Indian journalists obediently toed the government line  -- which was that Indian casualties were minimal. He quotes from my reports from that time to illustrate that my reporting in Business Standard newspaper and in this blog, Broadsword, while consistently and factually correct, was consistently attacked by the establishment and the media -- most of which chose to parrot the government's version of events, which have been proven wrong since then.
