Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd [HAL] issued a rebuttal today on several stories recently published in aeronautics trade journals. These stories have alleged sloppiness by HAL in assembling Dhruv helicopters, which has resulted in these fatal crashes.

Hardly a rebuttal… more like a statement calling the critics liars without addressing any of the issues being raised. These issues regarding HAL’s repeated failures to address the root cause of accidents over the years are very specific, and serious. Pilots and passengers have died and the crashes continue to occur. These critics are not of the arm chair variety either - they themselves are honourable retired officers of the armed forces, in some cases very senior officers, many of whom have flown the Dhruv helicopters and handled emergencies related to them, and also experienced the response of HAL first hand - they are therefore eminently qualified to comment. HAL had better answer to these issues rather than issue such unconvincing rebuttals.
