But it cant carry heavy ordnance.

Mig 29k is just a naval variant of the same aircraft with some modifications on its lower body to make it durable for carrier landings. Navy only intends to use it as a fleet air defence role with the naval ships in the fleet doing surface attacks.

F18 or rafale M are different they have reasonable air to air capability and can carry heavy ordnance too.

Anti ship missles are heavy as they carry lot of fuel to reach and explosive to destroy a huge warship.

Hence in India which focusses only in our surroundings IAF jets can launchbfrom land and attack enemy naval vessels. The jaguar is a 'deep'strike aircraft. Its designed for A2G role and its weak engine make it great for range and load carrying capacity. So its the best air craft to be used as a anti ship missile taxi in the indian ocean. It will fly low and slow where no radar can catch it. On its way back it can be protected by other fighters (mig 29k or something else)

i would like to put things in perspective, btw the last para by you is utter useless

1. pplease take a look at the below link from Mig company

http://www.migavia.ru/index.php/en/production/new-unified-family-of-the-fighters/mig-29k-mig-29kub

a. it proves this jet can carry lot of ordinance with or with drop tanks, dont forget it also has mid air refueling facility that will allow it to carry heavy payload and get refueled mid air, this allows it a hugely extended range

b. this mid air refuel facility is not available with India's Jaguars that limits their range compared to Mig 29k

c. dont forget for maritime strike flight over long duration and distance is must as well as landing on ahips if needed, whereas Jaguars cant land on ships

d. range of Mig 29k is almost double that of Jaguars

e. do remember each jet when it takes off it does so only with mission specific weapons

2. all this proves its utter useless to keep using Jaguar as maritime strike jet

thanks

jOYDEEP gHOSHjoydeep ghoshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00038225081192821456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8726844009873922462.post-73246437378499770152018-05-25T06:24:33.745-07:002018-05-25T06:24:33.745-07:00Isn't EL-2052 the AESA radar?Isn't EL-2052 the AESA radar? It has one lot of RF power amplifiers feeding the planar antenna elements via electronic steering curcuits. So it scans much quicker than an MSA, but is not quite as smart as an AESA.

An AESA has an RF power amplifier *per antenna element*. This makes each antenna element 'active' making the radar an AESA. The Elta 2052 is an AESA.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
